Transfer Station Permits 24/25

Transfer Station Permits can now be purchased for the 24/25 season. Please visit the Transfer Station or Town Office to purchase. Permits are $20 for the first vehicle and $5 for additional vehicles.

As of April 10th the Transfer Station will not be accepting brush on Monday’s until further notice.

Hazardous Material

 The Following Hazardous Waste Materials WILL NOT be accepted:

-Sealed containers of any kind
-Oil
-Tires
-Cement Blocks/Bricks
-Plaster
-Gas/Propane Tanks or contained gaseous wastes
-Wet or dry transformers, capacitors, or Ballasts containing PBC’s/Mercury
-Asbestos Waste
-Excessively oily material from which oil flows or drips
-Machinery containing oil of any kind or any hydraulic hoses or machines
-Whole oil tanks
-Paint containers with any product inside
-Oil based paint/thinners/epoxy
-55 gallon drums with fluid inside
-Wire fence of any kind i.e:chain link, chicken wire, sheep fence
-Fireworks
-Ammunition
-Antifreeze
-Pesticides/Herbicides
-Swimming pool chemicals
-Anything which constitutes a hazard to employees, other users, the Town, or to the operation of the Facility

 **Brush, C&D, and metal will still be accepted for those with a sticker. 

Note

Just a reminder –
Japanese knotweed is in Freedom. It’s a very invasive species. If it gets into the leaf and pine needle pile at the Transfer Station, it will spell doom for our mulch program. Please pay attention.

The following year-round schedule will go into effect October 1, 2022.

HOLIDAYS:  The facility shall be closed the following holidays:  New Years Day, Easter, and Christmas.  It will be open on Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Facility Permits

Transfer Station Permits are $20.00 for 2 years.

Current permits are effective 01/01/2024-12/31/2025.

Facility Permits are available for purchase at the Transfer Station, Town Office, and the Town Clerk’s Office.

Announcements

Starting Saturday 6/17/23 The Lakes Region Household Hazardous Product Facility will be open every 3rd Saturday May-October 8:30-12 to accept Hazardous waste. Every 5-gallons will cost $45 and you will receive a receipt to return to our Town Office to be reimbursed. They accept Cash and Checks ONLY. Please see the link below for more details.

The Lakes Region Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collections will be held Saturday July 29th and Saturday August 5th from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

Four Collection Sites open on July 29th – Belmont, Franklin, Gilford, and Meredith.

Three Collection Sites open on August 5th – Bristol, Laconia, Moultonborough.

Residents and taxpayers of the participating communities may bring up to 10 gallons or 50 lbs. of HHW to whichever site is most convenient for you!

Alternative Locations

For items that are not accepted at the transfer station please use the resources below:

  • Propane tanks can be exchanged through various exchange programs Or empty tanks that you are looking to dispose of can be brought to Home Depot in North Conway for free disposal.
  • Tires can be brought to Tice’s Automotive in Tamworth for a disposal fee of $5.00 a car tire OR to Northern Tire for a disposal fee of $4.00 a car tire
  • Household Hazardous Waste can be brought to Wolfeboro’s center for $45.00 per 5 gallons on the third Saturday of every month from May through October – with the town reimbursing $45.00 per property per year (please bring your receipt to the town office)
  • NAPA will also dispose of car batteries for free.
